Day 236. The Romans. 24/8/13
Obviously I've blogged whilst drunk before but generally that's been at three o!clock in the morning not five past two in the afternoon but here you go. I'm sat in a very nice pub garden overlooking Chester racecourse, we've accidentally started drinking again (as we did yesterday) and this is as sober as I'm going to be for the rest of the day sp you're getting it now.
The reason for this early afternoon bacchanalia?
J's mum was 70 yesterday. The whole family is in a nice canal side hotel and Spa ; 15 of us yesterday, 17 as of now . A meal on a barge last night, cruising up the Great Shropshire canal, moving through locks, stopping for photos in the dark.
A night of two halves; the first based around the fact that all (most, our Tom is at home) the grand kids were there (and what more could a Nana want on her birthday), the second based around sitting in a restaurant until 1.30 this morning untying the world to rights and catching up with each other in a way that we don't manage often enough.
Today?
A walk around Chester's walls. Do you have any idea how interesting the history of Chester is to a pair of 12 year old boys? Not even vaguely. We managed halfway then found this pub. We are currently having a break from the walk. It may well last some time, possibly running into the Liverpool match and then tea.
There may well be some alcohol involved at some point but what the hell, how often do you get to be 70?
Happy Birthday Sheila, hell of a way to spend a weekend.
