Day 359. Season's Greetings (25/12/13)
I stand in awe of my frankly fabulous wife on a regular basis, today more than ever.
J has been suffering from a particularly virulent flu bug for approaching a week now. It started with vomiting in a hotel room in Bradford last Wednesday and by the time she arrived home on Friday night had settled into relentless sneezing, it's now settled into a persistent hacking cough that has meant that she has managed about two hours sleep per night maximum for the last few days.
And despite all this she was up at eight this morning as we gave the kids their presents (and then exchanged our own) before making herself fabulous, donning killer heels and preparing a perfect Christmas dinner for the four of us, her mum and my mum and dad.
Whilst I did very little other than pick up my parents, see my brother, sister in law and two nephews, J ensured that a full spread was waiting when we returned, a stunningly prepared table and gorgeous food. It's a good job that she did as leaving it to me would be disastrous; I have very few talents and cookery is far from being one of them.
Once the day was ended and it was just the four of us again, J headed straight back to bed. She's awake again now, curled up in an armchair, covered with a blanket, inhaling Olbas oil in a desperate attempt to regain the ability to breathe and intending to sleep where she sits as sitting is easier than laying.
So, for a short blog (the deal was 'write every day' not 'write something substantial every day') I just need to say the following;
Happy Christmas J. I love you, you're incredible.
And to everybody else - Happy Christmas, hope your day was great. Ours was.
