Meant to be. (9/1/14)
So, this is the day that I change my life. Again.
Today I have every intention of proving myself as a real writer; a playwright to be precise.
The Merseyside Script Initiative is looking for five writers to collaborate on a piece that can be staged in a public house. What they're looking for initially is a ten minute/ten page piece, one scene, one locale, two strong characters. I've got one of those, I've got my script software with its 'stage play' setting for my iPad and I like to think that I'm pretty bloody good at dialogue and characterisation. (I actually like to think that I'm phenomenal at dialogue but let's not split hairs on this.)
I have a beginning, I have an end, the middle will come as I write. I know where I'm going and pretty much how I'm getting there but im quite happy to surprise myself as I write. The Bluetooth keyboard is charging so I mean business on this one.
But if there's one thing that I've learnt from all the actual writers that I follow on twitter it's that prevarication is everything. So I've slept in until 9.30 (exhaustion, I needed it), sorted the dishwasher, washing machine, tidied up a bit, cleaned the kitchen, watched a little of Sky News and a little of Sky Sports News
Thomas Hitzlsperger is positive news; in the week that the FA's representative for equality had to leave his post due to homophobic comments (here's a clue; equality means equality, there aren't degrees in this) a high profile ex-international can come out and the majority of the world seems to react with 'well done lad.' It appears from the interview that's been playing throughout the morning that it's not been a case of Hitzlsperger feeling the need to hide his sexuality throughout his playng career, more that it's something that he has only lately realised himself after being in a relationship with a woman for eight years at the start of his career.
How much better a world will we inhabit though when a current professional can be openly gay and the fact be as accepted as it should be?
I've checked Twitter, I've checked Facebook. And as the final prevarication? I thought I might kill some time by blogging.
Anyway. Pontificating over. Breakfast over. Shack's wonderful 'Here's Tom With The Weather' album playing in the background, prevaricating over, time to change my life again.
