28. 30th January 2025 - Getting there

 Was listening to 'The Bad And Lowdown World Of The Kane Gang' because of a review on 200 Words (Bluesky account), just horribly infected with all the worst bits of 80s production - cavernous drums, Clapton-esque guitars. Now switched to the 2022 remix of Dylan's Time Out Of Mind album, which basically removes all the production that Lanois placed on it and returns to the band and the instrumentation. The production was fine; swampy and ghostly, but this feels more classic. 

Weird to think that this was Dylan's 'late period' album, post heart disease health scare, a man staring at old age and mortality; he was 55. It's 28 years old now, there've been 10 albums since (Including 3 albums of 'standards', one a triple disc set, and the strangely sincere weirdness of Christmas in the heart - it's Bob, you get what you're given.)

Getting places now. Got a contact number for the theatre we'd quite like for MIH. Question out to all concerned - what do we need in terms of schedule and length of run (stayed that it'll probably be  straight split of door), waiting on thoughts on that. 

(CL what sapped me with a FB link - wasn't sure whether to open or not, he tends to not FB. Was link to a picture of a sunburst Strat - reference to 'Red Strat?' I replied with picture of the identical strat that I actually own) 

Moving forward with the one pager for Beryl, taking notes from the second of three recordings of our coffee the other week - I think there's a story here, I can see the shape of the show. Once I hear back from RC on DD I can send in  a one page pitch. 

Nothing like giving yourself too many things to do at the same time ;)

In world events - woke to the news of the air crash on the Potomac. A Blackhawk helicopter flying into a passenger plane, both crashing into the river at a point where it's only eight feet deep. Utterly horrific. How do you legislate for the random? Answer? You don't. It's the stuff that happens. Enjoy life, hold your loved ones close, make the most of each moment.

 Note to self: yesterday was about a single, it played at 45rpm, change the speed. Full on John Peel "this one plays at 33" moment there. Which didn't benefit Michael Stipe in any way at all. "We're REM, from Athens Georgia. This one's new." They were all new, we knew nothing about them other than the whispers that were coming out in the music papers. 20.1.22 They're only made of clay

This is the return to Ben Webster that I promised. (Yesterday/ A Couple of days ago?) This is me saying that I'll return to something that I was going to talk about and actually doing it. Treasure this moment, it's quite rare. I am, if you hadn't already noticed, easily distracted. Hence the endless asides. And asides within asides.  This is how writing tends to work. This is how *part of* writing tends to work. For me. Others will have their own rhythms and rituals, I can only talk about mine. It's all about the music. The music has to be right.
