7. 7th January 2025. The richest man on earth
So, the big question of the day is, why are the government having to spend all their time defending themselves against a right wing billionaire bellend (can he see the do you think?) who's decided that it's his job to interfere in British politics, to back Nigel Farage's Reform 'party' (it's not a party, it's a private company; garage has said if the govt aren't going to commission a new inquiry into grooming gangs then he will do it independently, he knows he can raise the money for it - of course he can raise the money for it, the only thing Reform exists for is to raise money for the snivelling little racist), to make the concept of grooming gangs the go to topic for everyone at the moment, to flood the media with the subject?
What's in it for him?
Because the only thing that matters to people like him is what's in it for them.
Trump. Trump's not in it to make America great again. He's in it to make a profit. Despite having been born immensely rich and making less money with his riches than Paris Hilton made with hers.
Why do we allow these frauds to dictate our existence?
I'm no Keir Starmer fan. I pretty much detest the man. He's a liar. He lied to become the leader of the Labour party, broke every one of his pledges in order to gain power, to appeal to the right, and didn't appeal to them. The right lost more votes from people dying than defecting to Labour. Our party was sacrificed for nothing, we put the wrong people in charge (we? I didn't) and they became the government simply by the Tories being so bad that people could no longer vote for them.
Labour's in power, nothing has changed, everything was wasted.
But. That doesn't mean Musk gets to open his gob on anything at all that involves this country. There was an inquiry into grooming gangs, there were recommendations made, the Tories ignored it. There's no need for a new one, the details are already there, they're just being distorted by people with ulterior motives.
Want a better world? Tax billionaires.
Splurge/vent over. Good job no-one's reading this.
In other news - lunchtime, three pages into the eight page pitch that looks like it will be ten pages. Getting the characters right, getting the pace right, set up a loving relationship, need t make breaking it realistic in pace and tone.
Also - meeting with Beryl M tomorrow, having a coffee, seeing f there's a story in the story. Something that will land on stage with an arc that'll make people feel.
All you can do is shut out the noise and see if you can bring some joy into the world.
