30. 1st Feb 2025. Cherries
J was planting a cherry tree in the garden while I was busy watching us beat Bournemouth ('The Cherries') 2-0 at their place. Some result given how they've been playing. Rode our luck a little - they hit the post early on, shot wide when the goal was open and I wasn't entirely sure our penalty was (a penalty that is) but I'll take it. Obviously. Good win.
We know the house was built on the remains of the Forticrete, know that our garden only goes so far down before you hit lumps of concrete. Still didn't expect J to dig up a block of the stuff two feet long, a foot wide, six inches deep. But she did.
Other Saturday stuff - J dropped Matty near Goodison, I picked him up from Old Roan, in the middle Everton beat Leicester 4-0. A good day all round footy wise.
The gym first thing. First thing for me, J had been up for an hour and a half, been out for a walk. Finally tried one of the 'standing up pulling a resistance handle' machine things. Think I may have pulled something.
Driving through the square on the way there, pointed out to J that there's a red Epiphone Dot in the window of the Cash Convertors. I see it on my run. Every day. It's been there forever. £300. I'm tempted to walk in, say to the lad, "I'll give you £100 cash for it now. Obviously I won't, I don't need one."
J said she feels sorry when she sees things like that, she's aware that somebody's had to trade it in for cash. Didn't tell me to get it ;) (Didn't think she would, and I SERIOUSLY don't need it)
Think she might be a much better person than me. Think? Know for a fact. Now? 6pm. Wine. Matty's watching the UFC, J not entirely taken by the amount of blood on show. By 8.30 we'll have the telly back.
Listening to? Hammell On Trial talking about the state of the USA, Eno's Lonely Semi-jazz single.
Going to bed at midnight last night when the plane crash in Philadelphia hit the news on CNN. Three days after the collision in Washington. Bizarre, awful coincidence.
